SAM Ratulangi Airport in Manado City, North Sulawesi Province in Indonesia will be expanded to 56,000 square meters. President Jokowi said, the airport terminal is targeted to accommodate 6 million per year in 2020. “It will start this September 2019 and will be completed in August 2020,” Jokowi said.
According to Jokowi, there are a lot of request from the tourism agency to axpand Sam Ratulangi Airport. โA lot of tourists want come here in Manado, especially from China,โ he said.
Sam Ratulangi International Airport is located in North Sulawesi, 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) northeast of Manado City, the capital city of North Sulawesi Province. The airport is named after the Minahasan educator and independence hero Dr Sam Ratulangi. It is designated as one of the 11 main entry ports to Indonesia by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Indonesia and serves as the main gateway to the Bunaken National Marine Park. It is currently the hub of Lion Air/Wings Air for the northeastern part of Indonesia and is one of the focus cities of Garuda Indonesia and Citilink. It is served by international airlines. (nox)
