Jokowi Wants to Build A Bridge From Bitung to Lembeh Island

The President of Indonesia, Mr Joko Widodo (Jokowi) promises to build a bridge from Bitung City to Lembeh Island. Jokowi wants to connect Lembeh Island with the Manado-Bitung toll road, so the tourists can acces Lembeh Island from Manado City easily by vehicle. โ€œThe project will begin 2020,โ€ Jokowi says.
As we know, Lembeh Island is part of Bitung administrative area in North Sulawesi Province. The island is separated from the mainland of Sulawesi Island by the Lembeh Strait.
Lembeh Island is famous for those who like to dive, because Lembeh Island is the best diving spot after Bunaken. The divers recognized Bunaken as the Sea Garden in the Earth, but Lembeh is such a virgin island. It is untouched and almost to be the perfect diving spot.
There are so many unusual habitats and exotic organisms live under Lembeh Island, like, the coral skeletons, colorful nudibranchs, mandarin fish, gosh pipefish, frog fish, rhinopias, shrimps, blue-ringed, mimic octopus and rare pygmy seahorses.
It is a fantastic dive area for underwater photographers and the diversity of smaller creatures ensures many memorable photo opportunities. There are several undeveloped beaches on the shoreline of Lembeh Strait which are excellent for swimming and snorkeling.
For now, the only transportation to Lembeh island is using small boats, which is called as โ€œtaxi waterโ€ from the small port of Winenet (in Bitung area) for about 30 minutesโ€™ drive. The taxi is ready in one hour on every departure with maximum capacity of 10 people. The most inhabitant in Lembeh Island in Sangihe tribe, the sub-tribe from the Minahasan. (nan/*)
